Among the old Egyptians, only royalty and high society were given proper burials. Barbers were part of this well respected and distinguished group.

A tomb with one of the most famous barbers of this era, was found in the lower cemetary of Thebes. His name was Barber Meryma'at.

This tomb was numbered 45.
